My feet hurt. Perhaps it's a product of growing older and wearing too many ill-fitting shoes throughout my life, but I am spending more time these days thinking about my feet.
It started as an occasional bout with something-or-another in the ball of my foot that would cause it to sieze up like an engine without oil. That pain actually had me remove my shoes in the mall one day and walk stocking footed to my destination. It's happening more frequently.
I've tried insoles: full insoles, heel insoles, toe insoles, gel insoles, you name it. I'm trying to migrate away from wearing heels but the problem with that is that most of my pants are of the length that require a heel. Now I'm faced with hemming my pants, NEVER a task that I have enjoyed. And I still need to dress well for work, so I have to find something to wear on my feet that's comfortable yet looks nice.
In the summer months my feet don't hurt. I usually wear flat sandals or flipflops or, best of all, go barefoot.
So, now I'm faced with a dilemna: hem my pants or move to Mexico where I can go barefoot all the time. Tough choice.

Ouch!! I can sympathize. Going through same thing and finally gave in and called podiatrist for appointment today. Seems like all I can wear is my expensive walking shoes and they sure don't look classy with any outfit but jeans and workout outfits. And here in FL they sure don't look good with shorts and bathing suits!!! LOL!
I just hemmed two pair of new pants...it's a chore I hate...even though I'm a good seamstress. Take it from someone who has just been through it...I would pick Mexico...
Oh, too funny! I can imagine the frustration, as I'm just starting to experience the joys of aging!
Dear Linda, It sounds like you are putting too much weight on the ball of your foot. I have this problem too sometimes but I sort it by wearing different shoes every day so my feet don't suffer too much!
You might like to have a giggle at a post I wrote about my foot,a while ago. Here is the link:

Ohhhhh Girl....I know what you mean!!
I have what they call a nerve bundle in the ball of my right foot....ouch....surgery or BirkenstockS!! I chose the Birkies.....they have some very stylish sandals and in winter you can't go wrong with clogs and nice warm socks....course i wear jeans to work..so Birkies fit right in!!!
Hope you find the help you need...LindaMay
Okay, Linda, you're not going to believe me. I have more than one family member who swears by Ivory soap. Put a new bar in your bed -- I know, I know! -- at your feet. You can slip it under your fitted sheet, for less movement, but you'll have to use your toes to adjust it once in a while. Rest your feet right next to it, and it works magic! My mom has bad food cramps, and the Ivory takes them right out. Might help you, too. I hope you try it! And report back, too. *hugs*
I'd choose Mexico:) Seriously though, I've had surgery on both of my feet, and as much as I dreaded it beforehand, I'm glad I did. As around and find a good foot and ankle doc -- he may be able to advise you (and not necessarily require surgery).
I love going barefoot in the summer...sore feet are no fun...I have some shoes that I call "Sitting Shoes" they are only made of sitting.....
