Reading

I have always taken enormous pleasure in reading. I have a habit of having more than one book on the go at one time. Last year for Christmas my husband bought me the Sony eReader. This is an amazing device! I can carry around so many books in this little device, and more dangerously, I can purchase them instantly from the online book store. I don't read all of my books on the eReader, for me there is no substitute for an honest-to-goodness book in my hand.

Here are the books that I currently have in progress (some on, some not on the eReader):

1. The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan
2. American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld
3. Hannah's Gift by Maria Housden
4. The Elements of Style (yes I'm one of those bookish people who actually read these things. As I child I read the encyclopedias my parents bought for us as well.)

Yesterday, I pulled out The Year Of Fog by Michelle Richmond from by bedside table. I'll be starting that one soon too.

What book(s) are you reading?

You sound just like me. I got lots of books from the library, I order them online. I always read more than one at one time. I also listening to a lot of talking books so one of those gadgets would be good for me.

At the moment I am reading about the executioner Albert Pierpointe and also the biography of Tony Hancock, a popular comedian of years ago.

I was in Borders recently and they had an ereader on display to try. I'd thought I wouldn't care for it, but was surprised to see that I did! Read Year of the Fog last year, loved it. Richmond's got a great writing style, let us know what you think of it. I just finished Alice Hoffman The Ice Queen, and loved that one too.

This weekend I finished The Tale of Briar Bank by Susan Wittig Abert. This is part of a fictional series about Beatrix Potter that I will be sure to read to my grandchildren (when I have any.)
I also read A Spoonful of Poison by M. C. Beaton. I like the Agatha Raisin character, but this book was pretty choppy.

Next, I'm starting An Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollen. I bought the book a year ago and am just now reading it.
