Noticing the little things

Fall in the Pacific Northwest means rain. I've discovered that cool weather and rain means that we grow all sorts of interesting mushrooms in our yard.

I think I must have missed this phenoman last year, being so busy with life and all, but in my quest to slow down and appreciate things more, I've begun to notice and appreciate the different shapes of what's sprouting in our yard.

Here's a picture of a big fella that I took yesterday morning. I love the way the little bunny (not real) is looking at it.

How about you? Are you noticing any new things as you try to live in the moment more?

That is a good, clear picture of the little mushroom. We get lots of varieties here with all the rain.

I do try to notice the "small stuff," especially concentrating on things for which I'm grateful and the many blessings. Good Sunday post"!

cool mushroom.
As I took my walk around the yard the other day, I noticed little things, like a chunk of quartz down near the creek, the beautiful colors of the leaves.
I think finding a balance is a choice also. And it does take discipline to get things prioritized-doing what has to be done first.

Linda, Since the birth of my grandson I have "tried" to slow down and notice things I never had before. Yesterday as my husband and I were driving home after dropping our dog off at the groomers, we drove around a winding exit that we drive EVERY DAY home from work. I hadn't noticed how beautiful the little red leaved trees were hiding amongst the tall pines until yesterday. I say that I am busy, but what it really amounts to is that by the time I get off work, I am so tired I don't notice those things. All I can think of is getting home. So, yesterday really opened my eyes to what is happening outside my office and home. I decided on that exit yesterday that I NEED to refocus my energy and my priorities.

The picture is great. After seeing everyone's pics posting lately, I can see that I need to put my digital to better use. I used to love to take pics of nothing but the sky on a day of thunderstorms, my flower beds when in bloom, and my pets playing outside. You all have inspired me to go back to the simplier things in life and just enjoy!

I was in the Pacific Northwest at the beginning of October and noticed a bunch of mushrooms growing in a forest when we were following the trail. That was a wonderful sight for someone from our extremem drought area. A couple of years ago when we had lots of rain in the spring, we had mushrooms in our backyard and they were the eating kind. Yum!

Is that really a mushroom? I love your thoughts of living in the moment--still trying to live each day and not worry about the future:) Thank you!

Ang - I can totally relate to what you say about being tired after work. That's my life to a "T" right now. I'm constantly seeking that elusive work/life balance thing.

Pat - How cool to have edible mushrooms in your hard! I don't know anything about mushrooms, so I would definitely need an expert to point out the edible ones.
