Time for some discipline

You would think I would learn. Once again, here I am at the cusp of a new year comtemplating the weight that I have gained over the past year that now needs my attention. Once upon a time when I was younger, I could eat anything I wanted, exercise not at all, and not gain a pound. I have to keep reminding myself that those days are gone.

My clothes seem to have shrunk in my closet over the past few months, so I either need to go out and purchase an entire new wardrobe - not a bad solution actually - or muster up some discipline and get back on the healthy eating and exercise routine. To make matters worse, I have to go for another cholesterol test this week. Gulp.

I'm at the same place. Since my surgery I havent 'been able to wear much of what I had. Not sure if it is still the "swelly belly" or that I've gained weight. THe scales say that I'm the weight I was before the surgery, tho. I still need to lose, eat healthier.

I am trying to eat better, though I definitely indulged over the holidays, and I plan on hitting the gym again tonight. I used to be the same as you when I was in high school and college - eat whatever I wanted and never gain a pound. No more!

Oh, good luck to you, Linda! It's so hard. They do say it takes "only" three weeks for something to become habit, so many you can do it fairly easily.

And I kept help but notice 6 days 'til baby! Maybe even sooner!

Pfft! That's supposed to be "can't help but notice..." Wonder what it the world was goin' through my head?

Oh my! I need to do the same thing. Funny how my scale has gained so much weight since Thanksgiving and my clothes have shrunk in the closet.

I'm with Janna, once lifestyle becomes habit, it's not as hard to do. And you'll enjoy it. I started a walking routine a few years back, and now if I'm kept from walking for an extended period of time, I miss it! Good luck!

I WILL lose this post-baby extra weight that's been hanging around for, oh, a mere 16 years now. Watch out 2009!

Maybe we should start a bloggers Biggest Losers club? hehe

Joining you in refocusing on some discipline. A New Year...a new start. Nothing new, but still feels so right and fresh and perfect timing in my life.

Patty - I think healthier eating is even more important than what the scale says.

Melissa - It's one of the "perks" of getting older I guess!

Janna - You're right about keeping at it until it becomes a habit. I tend to quit too soon. And yes, we're getting very excited about the baby due any day now!

Pat - I'm glad I'm not the only one who has clothes that shrink in the closet!

Joanne - I've been working on getting a walking routine going. My excuse is the weather....really no excuse at all, is it?

Angie - LOL - I always LOVE your perspective!

Elaine - a new year is always such a fresh start in a sense, isn't it.
